Helping Women Gain Access to Land in Mali

In Mali men often control access to land and decide which parts women are allowed to farm which poses a problem for women as erratic weather increases competition for land and harvests.

Watch the Thompson Reuters video below, filmed by Alex Potter with the support of the International Reporting Project, to see how the RIC4REC program is helping women in Mali gain access to land and increase their yields.

RIC4REC is assisting communities in responding to complex climate risks by helping identify, reinforce, and scale-up their unique adaptive capacities with a focus on food security, training, and improved technology. It addresses the regional effects of climate change, including varying rainfall and drought, on communities with an emphasis on women and youth.
