Camps in Kirkuk have been busy the last few weeks with a visit from Santa, non food item (NFI) and core relief item (CRI) distributions, and various other happenings. On behalf of the Metrography Agency, Santa visited the Daquq camp and distributed New Years gifts to some 500 children. In Laylan camp, The International Rescue Committee (IRC) distributed NFIs alongside a CRI distribution by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC). These distributions reached some 250 families. Also in Laylan camp, 77 single residents were moved to Laylan 2 camp to be reunited with their families.
In Daquq camp, UNHCR and partner organization REACH distributed winterization kits for 960 IDP families, with distribution planned to continue until all families have received kits.
Across both Laylan and Nazrawa camp, the World Food Program (WFP) and REACH distributed over 30 rapid response mechanisms (RRM) which are composed of emergency food, drinking water, and hygiene items, including specific goods for women and babies. Also in Nazrawa camp, street lights are being installed to light empty areas on the roads.
In Laylan 2 camp, camp management conducted elections for six community representatives (four men and two women), and JAFF Center provided haircuts for 100 male residents. In addition, Handicap International provided psychological support for 80 men and 120 women living in the camp.
