Micheal Mboowa
Program Director, SAFER
Micheal serves as the Program Director for the USAID/BHA-funded Shelter and Food Emergency Response (SAFER) program. For the SAFER program, he oversees the management of four displacement camps and over 50 collective centers in northeast Syria. His responsibilities include coordinating with local authorities and partners, organizing camp-wide distributions, and maintaining facilities and services.
Micheal has demonstrated expertise in program operations, implementation, coordination with local authorities, staff management, budgeting, and external relations including donors. He has extensive experience in the management of humanitarian responses in challenging emergency contexts in the Middle East and Africa including Syria, Yemen, Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda, Sierra Leone, and Cameroon. As a humanitarian responder, Micheal is committed to working with communities and all stakeholders to find locally viable solutions to improve their well-being.
Micheal has implemented $250M in programming funded by donors such as USAID, GFFO, BMZ, GAC, Czech MOFA, Dutch MOFA, ECHO, EU, FCDO, French MOFA, UN Agencies, foundations, and the private sector across seven countries in Africa and Middle East.
Prior to joining Blumont, Micheal was the Deputy Country Director for CARE International in Syria for over two years based in NES. In addition, Micheal has worked with CARE International, Internews Network, American Refugee Committee, War Child Holland, and VSO. Micheal holds a Masters in NGO Management with Social Work.
