Sindh Basic Education Program Acquires Five New Schools

The Government of Sindh and four Education Management Organizations (EMOs) recently signed an agreement of concession at the Chief Minister of Sindh’s Home in Karachi, Pakistan.

The agreement stands for up to ten years, and makes The Government of Sindh the first province to implement these private-public partnerships that allow private entities to construct and manage public schools in the area.

Blumont’s Sindh Community Mobilization Program (CMP) supports the Government of Sindh’s education reform and USAID’s Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP), focusing on 400 targeted schools by increasing community and private-sector involvement in education reform activities, improving child nutrition and supporting community and district government coordination for increased girls’ enrollment.

Under the concession agreements signed at the ceremony, the management and operations of the newly constructed state of the art SBEP schools have been handed over to credible EMOs from the private sector, which include The Beaconhouse School System (BSS), Charter for Compassion (CFC), Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and Indus Resource Centre (IRC). These organizations pledge to help improve the standard of education in the Sindh Province.
